Hypocrites

This is just a question for those of you in blogger land. What comes to your mind when I say "hypocrite?" Think about that word in a Christian context. What are your feelings? Do you have any stories?

I've got some thoughts that I want to share early next week, but I wanted to give you a chance to be thinking about hypocrisy and the Church.

People who say one thing and their actions protray another. It is funny you bring this up...totally on my mind this week. Can't wait to hear what you have to say.

In a Christian setting I have heard this word used like wild fire...when it wasn't necessarily needed.

When I think of the word, I ONLY think of it in a church/Christian setting. I looked up the webster definition and it said:

a person who puts on a false appearance of virtue or religion

Yikes!! That def makes me cringe. One part of not being a hypocrite is to not put yourself on a petistal where people could see you as a hypocrite. Just like Jes said.. if we all know and admit that we are all sinners & have struggles, it will be harder for someone to label you a hypocrite. (I think of pharosies when I think of hypocrites) That doesn't give us excuses to do what ever we want, though. There is still a part about being a Christian where we are striving to do the right things.

The hypocrite discussion is always a hard one!!!

HYPOCRITES: I think of this as someone portraying to be someone they're not! Someone acting as if they have no problems in life at all! Like the other bloggers wrote, we are all Sinners and fall short of God's Glory! But I do think that the biggest hypocrites are inside of the church.

Hypocrites: When Church Folks be in Church talking about others and what they shouldn't do, but they go home Sunday Afternoon and do the same thing! Or in Church, screaming, shouting, crying out to God and the same night out at a Party droppin' it like its hot...lol!
